MEET ELAINE
Hi I'm Elaine - the person behind Odeda Jewellery! I originally fell into jewellery-making by accident while travelling down the Amazon (where some of my first creations were bartered for food and board!). On my return to the UK, I took weekend and evening jewellery classes whenever I could, finding peace in the process of designing and making. For the next 20 years I tried to balance my love of jewellery making while working as a lawyer, legal diplomat and university lecturer, occasionally boring my friends and family with dreams of becoming a full-time jeweller. During lockdown I decided to bite the bullet and so in 2021, I finally left the law and set up Odeda Jewellery (I chose the name Odeda (oh-de-da) as it means courageous or strong!)

I make sustainable fine jewellery using recycled silver and gold and precious and semi-precious gemstones. My current work is influenced by concepts of inner strength and courage, the need to constantly challenge conventional wisdom and ideas of change, renewal, and reinvention. Each unique piece in my collection is made by me by hand using traditional jewellery making processes that have been passed down from generation to generation. I also try to be as kind as possible in my small business to the environment, to people (through careful sourcing of materials and packaging) and to animals (by replacing animal-derived products in my own workshop with vegan alternatives).
